It's interesting what panic will do. Before the challenge started today, I swapped out a couple of choices (navy pants and only black shoes, what was I thinking?!) but they were pretty minor, just color swaps. Then I realized I had only two pairs of pants to choose from (the rest were still drying after a massive laundry night, LOL) and I froze. What if I wanted to wear those later in the week instead? What if I wanted to wear a tunic top and sweater today? I CAN'T BE TIED DOWN TO ONLY 30 PIECES!! I NEED TO BE FREEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Sometimes I am really a dork.
I took a deep breath and went with a simple neutral look. Grey Gap bootcut pants, mushroom layering ON top, black Kohls chunky sweater, black Naturalizer booties. I added a little-worn triple-strand gold-and-grey necklace as my accessory; the strands lay all at the wrong spots on my chest unless I wear a boatneck, which I almost never do. This layering top is actually a v-neck but I reversed it; already getting clever with the remixing!
I mentioned the dork thing, right? :)

A word about these Old Navy tops: I absolutely love them. They're a light fabric, perfect for fall layering, and the colors are just great. And they're on sale, so get yours now...before they disappear into Kristen's Alternate Universe of Kohls and Old Navy Items That Are Only Sold at Her Stores. ;-)
I actually love this outfit - it looks so comfortable. It also seems like something even 'I' might be able to put together and would choose on a day when I knew I would have to be in it for a long, long time.
ReplyDeletePanic? Makes me do all kinds of crazy sh*t and not just with my clothing - lol!
You look comfy but super chic. I love that top! And word on the need to be free. I think you solved the problem well w your super-classy neutrals. :)
ReplyDeleteHow easy and professional you look. And, did I mention chic? You look very very elegant here -- one of my favorite looks by you!

Awesome look - very effortless (only we will know your secret!).
ReplyDeleteBwaa ha ha ha! You're so cute! I really was wondering how you would survive the 30 for 30. You and Julia both actually. But I'm not worried. You ladies can step up to a challenge like nobody's business.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't read as a "panicked" look at all. You look comfortable but still with your trademark sophisticated & creative layering.
ReplyDeleteI love the way those Gap pants fit you. You've probably shared this with me already, but would you mind reminding me what cut of pants they are? (I mean, I've kind of given up on my pants search, but it doesn't mean that I won't buy any if I do find some.)
Kari, I got the modern bootcuts from Gap. I have heard horror stories about the perfect trousers stretching and bagging through the day but the modern bootcuts haven't done that yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll take a look next time I am in a Gap store. :)
