Nordstrom is having its annual Anniversary Sale now, where many of the fall styles are on sale now through August 1. In years past I have gone to pre-sales and stocked up for the coming season, but since I'm not at a size I want to be in come autumn I haven't been too interested in NAS.
That said, I am still a size 9 shoe, so of course I had to check out that department. Unlike years past, they have some GREAT selections.
Love the height and platform (not too much) of these Calvin Klein pumps, and the plum patent is just different enough to keep it interesting. A $72 pricetag is not too shabby, either.
I can't decide if I like these or not; they're very on trend, but the long brogue tongue reminds me of my dad's golf shoes. But I love the color and think they would look great with an olive dress and tights. Seychelles are known for their comfort too. Hmm, I may have to try these on...
I am crazy about these Franco Sarto booties in blue suede, although my brain is telling me they would be more practical in caffe or black. Plus, I have a blue suede mary jane bootie that I did not wear at all last year. A different color would get more use...but doesn't make my heart go pitter-pat like the blue.
Grey flannel shoes were all over NAS, but I liked these Franco Sarto flats best. Look at that big silver buckle! I must confess, I liked them better in red. :)
Onto a couple of casual shoes. Shopping Friend absolutely adores the resurgence of Sperry Topsiders, and has been wearing them since last summer. I haven't seen the appeal, but these graphite ones for fall may bring me around at last.
Lastly, these Franco Sarto East boots are completely not me. They're short, and unheeled, and kind of Doc-looking. They would be for under jeans, which means they would get limited use in my closet. But I just love the look of them.
Crazy, right?
I don't know if I will get any of these; I need to decide if I am going to add more dresses back to my closet this fall, or if it will be mostly pants again like last year. That affects my shoe choices so I may just hold on getting any fall shoes until fall.
That said, I did make one purchase from NAS this year, a lovely hammered pave short necklace with a circle pendant by Nadri.
The metals were very different in real life than online; I thought I would like the silver or rose gold over the gold. But the rose gold was too pink, and the silver was too pewter-like; I have enough short necklaces in that color. The gold was much warmer than expected, and I've been looking for one that length for a while. The best part is, I don't have to wait until fall to wear it. :)
Did you check out NAS this year? Find anything you can't live without?

I stopped in yesterday and hoped to at least see those Franco Sarto flats in red, but no dice. I ended up getting a couple of summery Caslon tees instead.
ReplyDeleteThose plum CK pumps are so gorgeous! The thicker stacked heel makes them look so fresh and updated.
The purple shoes are amazing, definitely buy them if they are comfortable. The second pair would only work if you are buying a leprechaun outfit to go with them. The blue booties rock, you could wear them with black, gray, or tan slacks/ skirts.
ReplyDeleteFlats, meh, whatever. You have tons of them already. You should have gotten the topsiders before your CHS reunion, rocking the preppy!
I never go to Nordstrom's b/c it's way up in Farmington, but I do need some good shoes. I'm thinking of buying less crappy shoes and focusing on a few good staple pairs. Recommendations for the best low-heeled pump?
My favs are the CK pumps. If $$ were no object I'd have one in any/all colors they come in.
ReplyDeleteI do like those booties - very funky and cool! I wore Topsiders back in the day - mine were an off-white color. I rocked that look with lots of L.L. Bean and Land's End button-down oxfords, jeans, and of course pastel sweaters. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the nice thing about shoes - they pretty much always fit, no matter what size you are! I've been checking out fall shoes too (well, I've been getting distracted while trying to find a pair of sandals for a wedding later this summer).
ReplyDeleteThe flats are all cute, and those pumps are beautiful! I love the color, and they just look so clean and smooth. You'd probably get a ton of wear out of those too.
I can't believe you don't wear your blue suede booties. I've had a series of blue shoes about that color over the years and have always just loved them.
ReplyDeleteI ended up at Nordstrom on a visit with my sister last week. I bought a blouse that Angie at YLB had shown, not the same color, but similar style. I just couldn't get into those peasanty gathered blouses with the bell sleeves when I saw them on the hanger, but seeing it on someone, who belted it got me thinking.
After that I saw the style on a couple of different gals and liked it.
