So here is the real reason I haven't been posting...
You guys, I have run out of things to say.
I don't have anything new to talk about. I know, right? Me, with no opinions to spout, no goofy outfit pictures to share, nothing at all??
But that's where I'm at, and have been for months.
I'm not really following fashion trends or blogs anymore; I still use Gwynnie Bee, and I have been continuing to edit my closet monthly. but I don't have a lot of time or inclination to take photos of my outfits or castoffs. I get lots of compliments at work so I assume I am still dressing well, but the obsession and interest in writing about my clothes or photographing them is gone.
(At least for now.)
I'm not really dieting, either. This hasn't really been a summer of good eats; lunch is whatever crap they have in the cafeteria, and Hubby is in charge of dinner now so it's a lot of grilled chicken or sausage with an occasional veggie when he remembers.
Exercise is a bust: I hurt my ankle a few months back, which my doctor assumed was a sprain and recommended I take it easy until it healed. Two months later I was back in her office, and now we are on the hunt to find out the source of the problem. Gout, stress fracture, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus have all been ruled out, and there are more blood tests and a trip to the rheumatologist coming up next.
On the plus side, I do love my new job. But my schedule has changed dramatically -- I go in much earlier than I used to, and I work 9-10 hours a day. Then I come home and take care of Abby while my husband takes a much-needed break. Doesn't leave a lot of time for creative ruminations, you know?
All of that together leads to stagnation on the Low Fat Dressing front, unfortunately. I do miss the interaction with my fellow bloggers and everyone who has commented over the years, so I am determined to keep up with you all on Feedly and try to comment on your blogs when I can, but for the time being this blog is going to go dark.
It's been a really great four years (egads, 4 YEARS?!) here. I've learned a lot about myself, my limits and my accomplishments, I've made many friends, both here and on YLF, and I've loved having this as a creative outlet and my internet home, so to speak. I so, so appreciate everyone who stuck with me, all the commenters and cheerleaders and just all-around nice people who stopped by and read whatever silliness I had to say. Thank you so much for reading.
And who knows what six months or a year will bring; maybe I will come back some day. Hubby did just get a new job, so our lives will be changing again in a few weeks. Who knows, maybe the shift will inspire me again. We'll see. That's why I won't be deleting the blog, just not updating it in the foreseeable future.
Thanks again, and good luck to you all!!
I've really enjoyed your blog and am sorry to see you go! But, it sounds like your interests have changed and that life is taking new directions. Hope to see you back soon!

I have always been a fan of your blog, Kristin, and I'm glad you aren't deleting it! I do love all your gorgeous photos, so even photos would be cool. Make this blog into something else! Wishing you all the best for your life! Keep in touch!

I'm so sad :(
ReplyDeleteI completely and totally understand, but still sad. I will miss you!
Oh this makes me very sad but I can definitely understand wanting to move on. I'm glad the job is working out well and I hope life continues to treat you and your hubby well!
ReplyDeleteFeeling at a loss for words....
ReplyDeleteAnd y'all know how unusual that is!
I'm glad you like your job. Sounds like a lot of hours. Wow. SO wonderful that your hubby got a job!
And here I thought we were going to get to watch Abby grow, & hear about her antics. Well, I guess you will probably be too busy caring for this new family member to update us anyway.:)
Thanks for sharing with us over these 4 years; I'm glad for all I've learned from you. Pretty sure I'll still hear your wardrobe advice & thoughts in my brain. And cooking! Glad you aren't deleting so I can look back on posts.
I wish you well, Kristin.
Love, Chrissy
Mee, too-very sad:-((-but understand the need of a (short!:-)) break.
ReplyDeleteBut pls. do not delete your blog!!! You were one of my first style crushes, for many years Kristen...(is it only 4???oh, well!:-)and I like to look back at your all time inspiring outfits, as they remind me how far I have come with my style since never felt fab as a 40+ and joining the internet for help.
And, I alsoo keep comming back to your QUICHE recipee, which was a totally new dish for me, and has become a delicious and easy dinner in my home.
I'll miss you soo much(as already missed you when blogging so sparingly), but hope you'll be back soon, writing about anything you'll want!(the boring or busy side of your life-too, as we all have them:-))
love,
lyn(67)
I am very sad about you not posting any longer but I do understand...thanks for everything! Best of luck to you, hubby, Abby, and the two feline rulers in your home!
ReplyDeleteYou will be missed. I enjoyed your style, humor, thoughts, and pictures. BUT... you are wise to do what you think you need to do. Consider this a siesta. I'll look forward to seeing you back sometime down the road.

I have followed you for a few years. Maybe you just need a break? You had several stressful things happen, new jobs for both of you a new (fur) baby, so maybe a break only??
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything Kristen, I, along with all the others have enjoyed your blog as well. I lost my own blogging mojo many moons ago, but never say never, right? I got a little puppy nearly a year ago myself so I know how tiring they can be - enjoy these moments while they last though!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, we'll miss you, but I completely understand about the not having anything to talk about. I'll certainly keep following in case you do come back.
ReplyDeleteI suspect you'll find something that you want to share with the world sooner or later, and we'll be here when you do - but of course it's understandable that you don't want to blog when life has been kind of chaotic and stressful. Hopefully things will settle down soon...in the meantime, enjoy that adorable puppy, and congrats to your hubby for getting another job so soon (not easy these days, that's for sure).
ReplyDeleteTake good care, my friend!
AHH! I understand, but that doesn't mean I like it. I love your sense of humor, and your outfits, and just feeling like I've gone through the ups and downs with you for the past 4 years. I don't post comments often, but yours is the first blog I check each morning.
ReplyDeleteI hope you come back, but if not, take care, and best of luck to you and your little family!
I'm sorry to hear this, but I can understand. You have life that doesn't totally revolve around taking photos of your outfits.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed what you shared with us and want you to know that if you do re-materialize I'll be reading.
Aw, one of my favorites bloggers is taking a break? I'm bummed, but then, I get it, I know how it is. Hopefully some time off will do you good and you'll be back with gusto. And if not, that's okay too, it was a fun ride. I've really enjoyed reading your posts over the years and I appreciate the time and effort you've put into your blog.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to the bottom of whatever is causing your ankle pain soon, that can't feel good at all. Please take care of yourself.
Oh Kristen, I guess it happens to us all. You will be missed, who will I rant about with the closet edits ? Big hug.
ReplyDeletehope you'll be back - outfits or no outfits I love your insight - and miss the posts!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year :) hugs.
