Tuesday: SYC Challenge

Boo! I had a great outfit all day, but the pictures were completely out of focus and dark. Only two could be salvaged, so here you go. Oh well!

I had a different outfit planned in my head, but we had a sudden blast of high temps yesterday, so I actually pulled back out my Clarks Laguna Reef sandals for one last wearing, and paired with the Daisy Fuentes purple dress from Kohls, the purple bf cardigan from LOFT (that was part of the "twinset" last week), and finished it off with my SYC challenge item, my graduated pearls from high school.

Oh, the stories those pearls could tell! They've been worn everywhere over the years, from rowing on the Charles River in Boston as part of my prep school crew team, to my wedding day, to just a plain old workday like yesterday. I tend to pass them by in favor of a longer necklace look, but when I remember them and add them in, they always add an instant touch of grace to every outfit. Plus, they sit at the perfect spot at my neck.

They're probably not even real, but they've been worn so many times and for so long, it doesn't even matter. They are still one of my most precious and sentimental possessions.

  1. Love the colors in this outfit! Maybe it's a good thing those pearls can't talk?

  2. Such a pretty dress, and I really love that you didn't mix some crazy color cardigan with it! I love the matching colors :)

  3. Oh! You did Crew in HS (and went to prep school) too??? Where did you go? I went to a small non-denominational school in NH called Derryfield School, and was a coxswain on the crew team for two years. (Yes, back in my skinny days! LOL)

  4. That's neat that your pearls have such a history - I'm amazed that you wore them while rowing, and that is awesome that they played a role on your wedding day as well. :)

The purple colors in that dress look SO pretty with your favorite new cardigan.

I've had that happen with photos in the morning, and it's incredibly frustrating because I only have limited time to take and re-take photos before I have to scoot out the door. (Or what's happening more frequently is that I don't have time to set up the tripod at all, and end up with no photo.)

  6. You've been rocking the right colors for you....I love it! You look awesome, and as always, very well put together!

PS. I might have a turquoise sleeveless sheath for you. The color would be fabulous and it can be dressed up or down....no pearls required!

  7. Dressing in September is the challenge. Some days are as hot as August and my building feels like a February frost. I think your colors are great for late summer/early fall.
