Anyway, I am really sad I didn't get the best light for this outfit, because this melon-orange color is DIVINE. It made my skin and hair glow in the very best way. I just picked up the cardigan on the sale rack at BR a week ago; it is very light and super-soft, and seriously WOW, the color. I had also ordered the graphic tee from Target but had debated returning it because I wasn't finding the right outfit for it and it almost felt too cheesy a graphic print. But the white tee was pretty thick, especially for a Target tee, so I kept trying. Good thing I did! It's a little more matchy-matchy than I usually go for, but in this instance I think it worked. (I think the discussion on Tina's blog the day before encouraged me there.)

I also debated tucking in or not, but in the end I liked the smoother look of the tucked look better. It's tough these days figuring out ways to hide the stomach pooch, and as I discovered with the pretty pink top, just letting the shirt fold pile up on my hips and belly isn't quite the right approach either. By the end of the day when it was pooch city, I just buttoned one button on the sweater so it was less noticeable.
Rounding out the outfit is my brown Target Merona skirt, the Clark Laguna Reefs, my gold J Crew Outlet locket necklace, and my new Ralph Lauren aviators. Love these! I will try to take some close-ups pictures of them soon.

To follow up on some comments on the last couple of posts:
1. Helen, thanks for the hydrocortisone idea after I shave! I will try that out!
2. Shelley, most of the bento containers come with lids; only the one that holds my sandwich does not. You can also buy other kit parts so you get different sized containers and all of those have lids too.
3. Regarding the 30-minute work walk, this was a special occasion, not an common thing. We have a monthly department meeting that usually we sit in a big conference room and go over all the stuff we need to, but every once in a while we shake it up a bit. So this month we went walking for a half-hour then we reserved a private dining room at a local restaurant and had breakfast together (and had our regular meeting then). Everyone really appreciated the change, especially my boss and her boss, and I think it got everyone remotivated and enthusiastic again after a couple of tough months for all of us.
And yes, the walk and the breakfast was my idea. :) So glad it worked the way I had hoped!
I love this outfit! It's very flattering on you, and I think that tucking the top in was a good call.
ReplyDeleteThe nice part about how these pictures are staged is that in the shade you get even lighting over your whole outfit. We can't see the true vibrancy of the sweater, but we can get a good estimation of it.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY LOVE this outfit. In fact, I stole your picture for my inspiration folder. I <3 this look so hard!!
ReplyDeleteTo me, this outfit is not matchy at all. The cardigan actually accents the T and it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI totally spend $50 on Bento stuff yesterday and I gave your blog credit on the part where it asked where I heard. Oooooh, maybe you'll get some free stuff?
That's gorgeous, I love that shade of melon and it's awesome with the brown. It think it's one my favorites. Definitely right to tuck in this case.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of things wrong here: a) why did you FAIL to mention the six pack abs guy to me at dinner last night? b) why did you NOT give him my number??? c) you bought the aviator sunglasses without ME?
ReplyDeleteOther than that, you looked very cute at dinner and I loved the color on you and the way it pulled out the color in the t-shirt. You are right, the color made you just glow (it could have been the two glasses of wine & the dessert you ate that had me drooling). Great call on this outfit!
Funny story. My neighbor (not gorgeous but he knows me) catch me doing this once too. I was so embarrassed. And I live in a rough neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great outfit on you! The colors work really well.
This outfit is really pretty! I love the color of the sweater. :-) And I love the tucked in tee also.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic - that is the perfect color for you, and I love how you made the skirt work so well with that t-shirt!
ReplyDeleteWeighing in along with everyone else! The color is a great one for you. Seems to have energized your writing style too! Great post.
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever seen that shirt at Target but the Target near me is not the most wonderful Target so maybe they didn't have it. However, it looked familiar and I found it -

I love that color and think it looks good on you. No wonder six-pack guy was offering to help out!
Wow, what a colour (and I like how it looks with your new blog colours) - and it looks just amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteWoo, I would have been flustered too! Yummy! :-P
Um yeah, this is like my favorite outfit ever! Love it! And the matching totally works. Michelle O is bringing matching back around...you can quote me, lol :)
