Friday: Blogger homage and Photo Mishmash

The day started off with an explosion of clothes as I tried on every combination of clothes that I currently own. I ended up tugging on a new graphic tee from Target, and as soon as it dinged in my head it was Friday and I was wearing a graphic tee, I felt like Sheila at Ephemera. :) The light outside was not playing well at all by the time it came for pictures, so I ended up doing one in my kitchen.

Target camisole, graphic tee, skirt and belt. Alfani sandals from Macys. If it had been a full-on Sheila homage, I would be in heels, but for some inexplicable reason none of my summer heels are appealing to me lately. It's not about comfort or pain, I am just reaching for all my flat sandals lately. But I definitely left very Sheila-like, anyway! And that's a good thing. :)

It was a busy morning at work, and then my boss said she was sending us all home at 1pm. So of course, it all hit the fan at about 12:55, and ended up staying longer. Good thing I had packed my lunch. Here's what the Bento looks like closed up.

We had hit the Whole Foods salad bar the night before for dinner, and I had scooped up some tortellini salad and a couple of hard-boiled eggs while I was there. Lunch then consisted of:
-strawberries
-vanilla fat-free yogurt (do not like)
-tortellini salad
-homemade deviled egg salad (chopped up eggs, mustard, and Penzey's Northwoods seasoning)
-Seeduction whole grains roll

These Bento lunches make it so easy to eat at my desk. But I have found the fatal flaw in the Abs Diet: there are almost no vegetables that count as Powerfoods, so I am not eating nearly as many as I want to or that I should. I think I am going to switch to the Core plan, which was my favorite of all the WW programs. Now I just have to remember all the rules since they don't actually have it anymore at WW, but I do know it was a ton of fresh veggies and fruit, and very balanced among all the food groups. It also was based on mindful eating, where you pay attention to when you are "satisfied" and not just when your plate is empty. I lost weight very consistently on it.

ANYWAY. I did finally get out of work by about 3pm, and the light on the back porch had shifted around so I could get some shots outside. Check out our plastic pink flamingo garden!

Hubby and I then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing on our patio, enjoying each other's company and watching the planes go by. This has been pretty much where I have spent most of my weekend. Bliss!

  2. Aw, thanks, Kristen! I actually said out loud, "Ooh, I like that!" when I saw your outfit!

I still do WW Core (I think their Filling Foods thing is too complicated). It's mostly whole, unprocessed foods, with things like unsweetened cereal, potatoes and whole grain pasta being a "once a day" thing. Healthy oils are included. I use my 35 Flex Points for anything that is non-Core.

  3. I have that crock pot, or at least one very similar! And yes, I see the Sheila in your outfit -- a little rocker chick, eh, with the graphixxx and the black? I do love it you homage, and bright colors look so nice on you!

    xo!

  4. Thanks for the shot of the bento all lidded-up - and it looks like it comes with a chill bag? Awesome! Also, I'm craving egg salad after seeing that picture! :)

Pretty tee - another win on the skirt ensemble!

  5. You make those tees that I see at Target look like they come straight from Tarjay!

My impression of the Abs diet is that you could all the non-starch veggies you want. In fact I think there's a whole section that talks about if in doubt eat a big salad with protein on it.

In any case, eat your veggies!

  6. I like the Tee (and I keep my eyes on Sheila, too! One of these days I'll "get" it.)

I'm on a determined path to losing the pounds that have crept back since I lost last year. I'm so ticked at myself. I had intended to be wearing some really nice stuff this summer - instead I'm limping along with a few pieces left in my wardrobe that fit.

  7. I'm with you about the yogurt. It's like they added a bunch of gelatin to it.
I think it's one instance where I'd rather have half as much of the thick creamy stuff because when I eat that I am expecting something creamy.

I'm a calorie-counter so I'm no help with the abs vs core plans. My desk calendar is full of little columns of numbers where I keep a running score on where I am for the day.
