Tuesday: Farewell to a Purple Dress

DSC_6002

Dress: Kenar purple knit with grecian sleeves, Marshalls summer 2009
Top: white collar woven, Martin + Osa, summer 2010
belt: woven brown, so old I don't remember
necklace: green and red multi-media necklace, from a jeweler long out of business
shoes: Clarks Laugna Reef sandals, summer 2010

This is the final wearing of this purple knit dress. It's served me well for the last year, but has finally stretched out and started to fuzz up, so it's time to be retired. Funny, I think this is the first piece of clothing in a long while that I have had to throw out because of it has been worn out; most of my stuff gets donated or retired because of fit!

It was a great dress, able to be dressed up or down, and worked in every season. I think it's only fitting I do a retrospective!

Hmmm, that was all I could find but I know I have worn it more than that. Oh well, it served me well!

  1. I can see why you're sad to see it go. It's so versatile. Or at least you've creatively given it so many looks. Love the Retrospective. Isn't it amazing how many seasons one dress can have?

  2. It certainly looks like you got your money's worth out of it. I'm surprised that it fuzzed - I usually find Kenar to be a very good brand. Ah well, it will be fun to see what you replace it with!

  3. That was a very good dress and I hope you find a replacement for it.I'm sure you will because you always find great dresses.
Same thing happens here, things get donated but rarely worn out, makes me wonder if I don't get as much wear of things as I should.

  4. Great dress - I always am loathe to get rid of a dress that's worked so well, but sometimes you've just got to know when to let 'em go.

  6. You really DID get some great looks with this dress. I can imagine you're sad to see it go. What are the chances of finding a duplicate (or something close)?

  8. What a great dress - now you get to be on the lookout for the next perfect purple dress...fun!

You do so many interesting things with your clothes - I have to try harder, as most of the time I'm shirt/top/shoes/done - a little boring.

  9. In retrospective it is a good dress.

Is it the color or the style that you like best?

It looks like one of those stretchy-knit dresses that you can leave on the floor of your closet, pick it up, put it on and never see a wrinkle. Every working wardrobe needs those. They just aren't infinitely durable.

    Happy replacement shopping!
