Thursday: Mix Tape

DSC_5127

Hmmm. This looked better in the mirror than it does in the photo. I think it was one of those outfits that works well in motion; the blouse is a little large but it has a nice drape and I love the banded bottom. I paired it with grey AT pants and a purple LE turtleneck, then finished it off with a lucite silver long necklace and my Franco Sarto loafers.

Running is starting to pay off; the pants are fitting a little better this week. Still not crazy about the length, but they've been taken out as far as they go, and these are my lowest heels that aren't flats. In a few more weeks they will be better PPL; as your dupa gets smaller, less fabric is needed around your hips and more ends up at the bottoms. I've learned this over and over again!

The top is so pretty; I had a grey jacket on over this, but I really just wanted to enjoy the colors today. I haven't worn this in months, since before I got the blog, I think. It was part of the first suit I bought after I lost the weight, way back in April or May. I was worried all of it would only fit for a short time, and for a while this top was in the donate pile, but it's back again for now. I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

George says hi.

+++++

I have an iPhone, an iTouch, a Macbook Pro, and a whole lotta songs in my husband's iTunes. But I still call it my Walkman when I'm not thinking, and I still consider my playlists to be mix tapes.

I am so old skool.

Anyway, What a Splurge and Cranky Fitness have been talking about workout tunes this week. I go through phases, where certain songs have to be listened to every time I turn on my Walkman iTouch, over and over until I am sick of them. Right now I have a lot of Pink and songs from "Glee" in heavy rotation, but they're starting to bore me.

Here is the newest playlist I just made tonight:
You Should Be Dancing, Bee Gees
Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Beyonce
Defying Gravity, Glee cast
Nothin' Better to Do, Leann Rimes
Heaven Must Have Sent You, Bonnie Pointer
A Little Less Conversation, Elvis
Sometime Around Midnight, Toxic Airborne Event
Bow Down Mister, Boy George
Push It, Salt'n'Pepa
No Scrubs, TLC
I Feel For You, Chaka Khan
My Love is Alive, Chaka Khan
Ray of Light, Madonna
Nothing Really Matters, Madonna

What are your current favorites? I need some new ideas before my morning run tomorrow!

  1. Ha! My daughter has an MP3 player full of Glee and everytime I hear "Don't stop believing" by the Glee kids I want to throw something LOL!!

I mostly listen to Broadway at work, lately, mostly Stephen Sondheim, with some light touches of Andrew Lloyd Webber, some Kander and Ebb and Wicked and Les Mis. Its easy, mindless music to work to...

  2. Awesome that you are starting to really feel the progress you have made. I agree that my pants length dramatically changes based on my weight, and my dupa (love that word) is unfortunately on the large side at the moment. Skirts are just way easier.

I love that you are wearing your pretty banded top again - yay!

    Nope, I can't wink at all. :(

  3. there are some songs that i just dont seem to get sick of...
"pump it" by black eyed peas
"king without a crown" by matisyahu
    "lose yourself" by eminem
"drown in the now" by crystal method + matisyahu
    "firestarter" and "breathe" by prodigy

and funny enough, i really only listen to these songs when i am working out or need some sort of pumping up!

  4. I love the way you layer your clothes - by seeing what you have done, I'm rethinking a lot of tops that I only considered warm weather and am now starting to play with layering them over long sleeved tops...so thank you!

Funny you posted about a playlist - I have never worked out to music (except what was playing in the gym) but I'm making a mix tape (yes I am old school, too). One of my readers left a clip to Superchick's Anthem on my blog today and I love it - it's in iTunes...go listen to it.

  5. Ooooh, thanks for the music recs, Evanadine and Shelley! I will check them out.

Bianca, the Glee soundtrack gets old very fast. Ha!

Kari, I only have a couple of pants that are wearable right now, but I still struggle with PPL for them. I debate each time I try to wear them if it is worth getting teased about them being too short. I mean, I get that they're the wrong length, but what am I supposed to do? I'm just too freakin' fat right now for the size, and reminding me of that is not what I want to hear. It's not helpful, you know? But I know the critiquers mean well, so...yeah, most of the time skirts are easier because I don't have to go through this internal argument.
